About us

A family story, still being written.

Resheh is a family bookstore in Amman. Two brothers run it, their dad inspired it, and their youngest brother named it, though they'd rather you didn't know that last part.

It started with Dad's books.

Yanal and Yaqout Makahleh grew up watching their father love reading. Two of four brothers, they decided to turn that love into something other people could share in, and Resheh was born.

The name? Their little brother's idea.

Resheh means feather in Arabic, the kind people once dipped in ink to write stories. The youngest brother came up with it. Yanal and Yaqout like to pretend it was theirs, and he lets them get away with it.

How we got here

2019: an online store. Then: a tiny booth. Now: a real bookstore at Golden Gate Mall, Um Uthaina. Next: something bigger.

Every story starts with a ريشة, and we're still writing ours. Thank you for being part of it.
